Recently engaged and day-dreaming about the perfect outdoor wedding venue in Wisconsin? Your hunt just ended! I can’t wait to show off these wedding images from The Atrium in Solon Springs, Wisconsin.
Former Greenhouse turned Outdoor Wedding Venue in Wisconsin
This past June, I photographed Rachel and Jack’s wedding at The Atrium. The Atrium is a former greenhouse turned outdoor wedding venue in Wisconsin, surrounded by tall pine trees, earth tones, and stunning natural beauty. The space can host both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. You can hold an indoor reception in the greenhouse, and use the outdoor courtyard for cocktail hour and yard games. If weather permits, you could even have your first dance in the courtyard! How fun would that be? The Atrium also has separate getting ready rooms for the bridal party and groomsmen, lots of clean bathrooms, plenty of parking space, and tons of land.
A Dream Outdoor Venue with a Variety of Photo Locations
I have photographed weddings at countless venues over the years, so when I say The Atrium has no bad spots for photos, I truly mean it. And it makes sense, given that two former wedding photographers run this venue. There are endless photo ops for all of your must-have wedding day images on your shot list. I have been to The Atrium a few different times, and I have been able to mix up where we took photos. Each time, the photos turn out beautiful! Rachel and Jack’s day was no exception.
I had the pleasure of taking Rachel and Jack’s engagement photos in Park Point in Duluth, Minnesota. That’s where I got to know them and become really great friends! We had a blast at their engagement session. By the time we were finished, they were really comfortable in front of the camera.
It is so important to book an engagement session with the photographer you’ll be working with on your wedding day. It is the best way to practice in front of the camera, and get comfortable with your photographer. By the time wedding day comes, you’ll be pumped to see your photographer again, and feel super comfortable and confident in what they can do!
Rachel and Jack’s day was a 10 hour wedding photography coverage. It allows me to arrive to the venue early in the morning, leaving plenty of time for getting ready photos. I stayed at the reception long enough to get some great photos of the dance, which we’ll get into later.
Personalized Decor at the Wedding Reception
The decor that Rachel and Jack chose was really personalized to them. They decked out the whole greenhouse with photos of the two of them and their little fur-baby Evvie. Guests could not stop complimenting the cute sprinkles of Evvie around the whole wedding reception!
Jack and Rachel’s morning was super laid back and easy-going, just like them! It was super intimate with only the wedding party getting ready at the venue. Family didn’t arrive until later in the day for photos because they didn’t need to help with set up.
The couple hired a wedding coordinator to take care of all the preparations, which I 100% recommend! They hired Leeann from Juneberry Wedding Planner. She helped with set-up and tear down, and all the details in between. Hiring a planning means that your family and friends’ only job is enjoying your wedding day! If you’re engaged, please do yourself a favor and hire a coordinator who handles set up and tear down. You’ll be so happy you did!
Getting Ready and the Bridesmaid Reveal
Rachel’s bridesmaids helped her get into her dress for the bridesmaids reveal and bridal portraits. I usually like to take first look photos with the bride and bridesmaids right after the wedding dress is on. This helps brides warm up for photos before the rest of the day begins!
Bride & Groom’s First Look in the Woods
Rachel and Jack trusted me to choose the spot for their first look. Once they were ready, I got them into position and had Rachel walk towards Jack. Their first look was so sweet! They laughed, they cried, and you can feel the emotions in the photos. Their genuine love is so strong!
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in the Pine Trees
The rest of the day following the first look went beautifully. The weather was absolutely perfect and overcast (yes, you read that right – overcast is perfect for photos). The couple held their ceremony in The Atrium’s beautiful tall pines surrounded by family and friends.
Venue Owners Al and Lindsay
One thing I really do need to point out about The Atrium is the owners Al and Lindsay. At every single wedding I have shot at The Atrium, they were present the entire time, from morning until the last dance. They are so kind, passionate, and ready to help wherever it’s needed. That is something rare to find in a venue! At most venues, I have found the venue owners and venue coordinators are nowhere to be found. At the Atrium, however, Al and Lindsay are present throughout the entire event. They even attend the ceremony! I captured a photo of them at Rachel and Jack’s wedding. I greatly admire their hard work and passion!
The Reception
The reception that followed the ceremony was so lively! It was fun to see Rachel and Jack surrounded by their loved ones. In addition to capturing images of the toasts, speeches, and dancing, I got plenty of candid photos of the smiling wedding guests. I also snuck out with the couple for a few “not-so-sunset” sunset photos. The images turned out incredible, and they are some of my favorite photos yet!
The best part of the night was how many people were on the dance floor! The music was on point and their friends were a blast. I got tons of shots of the dance floor, sneaking in a few shots of moments shared between the new Mr. and Mrs.! They are absolutely adorable.
Rachel and Jack’s outdoor wedding at The Atrium was so much fun. Between the couple’s genuine love, the smooth timeline of events, and hosting their wedding at one of Wisconsin’s best outdoor wedding venues, it was a great day. I hope to go back again soon!
