Planning Your Engagement Session Photos
When planning for an engagement session, I always ask my couples to envision what they want their images to look like. What season is it? What kind of scenery do you like? Most importantly, what makes sense for YOU as a couple? Sophia and Ross decided on industrial-style, city engagement photos for their engagement session in Duluth. Since these two are not familiar with the Duluth area, they trusted me to pick the perfect locations for their session!
Industrial Engagement Photos in Duluth, Location #1: The Parking Ramp
When I think of industrial, I think urban and neutrals. The parking ramp is the perfect spot for an industrial photo shoot in Duluth!
During my sessions, I like to start with some fun poses for couples to warm up in front of the camera. I will admit, some of my posing suggestions sound really strange if you can’t picture the end result! For this particular pose, I had Ross shake Sophia from behind her to get her to giggle. Ross said, “I’m gonna have to trust the photographer on this one!” I’m glad he did, because the end result looks so light and fun!
Industrial Engagement Photos in Duluth, Location #2: Clyde Iron Works in West Duluth
I took Sophia and Ross to West Duluth for our second location where I knew we would have tons of brick walls and stairs to play with. We timed their photo shoot around sunset so that I could capture some amazing sunset engagement photos.
I also had them stand in the road for a few shots. The results are so. freaking. good.
Why You Should Trust Your Photographer!
After this session, it seriously lit a fire inside me to be more creative. It is so easy to stick to familiar spots where I love to shoot and know I can get great images for my clients. However, even though the unknowns are scary, I keep finding that the results are worth the nerves! This year, I am challenging myself to shoot in more new places, allow myself to try new things and be more creative, and push my own boundaries.
Having awesome clients who put their trust in my vision as their photographer makes it SO much easier to deliver a gallery that showcases their love for each other. The love that Sophia and Ross share is obvious through their entire gallery. You can literally feel the warmth of their smiles when they look at each other!
